Behind-the-Scenes: Summer for the Trinity Prep Staff

How is your summer going?   WONDERFULLY, I hope.

For the year-round staff of Trinity Prep, it is BUSY.  It is always busy in the summer, and that catches people by surprise. When they see me in the summer months, they usually ask if I am enjoying my break.  Well . . . . it IS a break in routine, certainly.  But I think our year-round staff is probably BUSIER in the summer months than during the school year!

Below is a 'behind the scenes' look at what Leslie, Claire, Emily, Trina, and Stefanie are working on this summer!

Trina and Stefanie:  our two intrepid Administrative Assistants are busy learning their new position.  They are job-sharing this position, with Trina on campus on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Stefanie on campus Tuesdays and Thursdays. They share many of the duties that support the Administrative Director, but they also each have unique roles.

Trina has been finalizing curricula lists, and preparing our Initial Assessments for the new students.  She will also be organizing our storage shed, so pray for her.  That is a scary place right now. . . but she will conquer all that is stored there, soon  😊

Stefanie is editing our Trinity Prep publications, preparing them for printing so we may distribute them to students the first week of school.  She is also learning to manage ALEKS math subscriptions, and to edit our trinityprepkeller.org website.   She creates our Friday Five newsletter each week, as well.

Emily has served so well as our Administrative Director, but her last day is next Thursday, June 28.  She will be missed.  You may hear crying coming from my office 😏  I am excited for her to enter that special, life-changing season of motherhood, but will miss her.  She has been my 'right arm' for almost two years, so I'm looking forward to God rewarding my good attitude about her departure by bringing us another wonderful Admin.  She has been busy imparting wisdom to her two Admin Assistants and making notes for her successor.

Claire is BUSY!  She is finalizing official transcripts for recent graduates, meeting with prospective parents, working on balancing our rosters where one program is overflowing and the other program has room, and . . . drumroll, please . . .  planning our High School Handbook.  THAT is going to be a blessing to all Trinity Prep families!  For Elementary parents, high school seems a long ways off.  But parents of middle and high school students know that all too soon, many decisions need to be made about the high school career.  We are preparing a handbook to guide you for the four years of high school.  What to do each year, what questions to ask, how to look down the road at post-high school.  God has a plan for your child. We want to be a good support and partner with you in equipping your child for his/her future!  So, that is her big project for this summer.

I (Leslie) am busy with my number one responsibility, to find the new location that God has for us.  In June, 2019, our lease is up on this campus, and I am asking God to provide a campus with larger classrooms.  That is our main difficulty here. We were grateful to move to this campus four years ago; it was the first location with a classroom for each teacher, a lunchroom, and sufficient office space.  But we have grown, and having classrooms as small as 180sf is difficult.  We also need larger science labs, and more classrooms.  Not larger class sizes - 15 students is a good 'max' for class size.  We never intend to have large class sizes - you can do that in public school 😏  But our rooms need to be larger.  It would also be nice to have all rooms in one building.

So, if you know of a building that is 14-15,000sf in size in the north Ft. Worth area, do let me know!  We need to move on this soon . . . trusting God for it all.

I am also meeting with each teacher to debrief the previous year and plan for next year.  I am interviewing candidates for open positions (Math teacher, Science teacher, Admin).  And, I am researching and reviewing policies, and editing the Parent and Employee Handbooks as needed to update policies and procedures.  And all of us are preparing for August Orientation Night when we see you again, August 9, 6pm-8pm!

So, that is my 'snapshot' of what the Admin staff spends our summer days doing!  If you wish to stop by, our campus is open Mon - Thurs, 10am to 2pm.   If you bring us treats to sustain us on this summer journey, we'll sit down and visit with you for a spell.

Enjoy these summer days with your children  . . . and try to stay cool!

Blessings,

Leslie
