Those are the titles our Graduation Speaker, Kam Hunt, considered for his commencement speech to our fifteen 2018 graduates.  Considered, but discarded for a more ordinary title - for an extraordinary message.  Read on for a summary of Kam's inspiring message for our seniors:

Five Things Great Leaders Do

1.  Never Stop Learning.  Let failure refine you, not define you.

2.  Find Your Purpose. Find a Mentor/Coach.  Finding a coach means finding someone that believes in your potential and they will push you to be all you can be.  No matter what your vocation, your purpose is to help as many people as you can.

3.  Be the Best Version of Yourself.  For example, I (Kam) will never be a Vietnamese woman  :)  I need to be the best version of Kam; you need to be the best version of YOU.  Don't rob the world of your true self.  You are unique, gifted and set apart.

4.  Make Other People Great.  Make other people great by being an example.  People will pick up on your example. Be the influence.  Give your Time, your Attention, your Teaching.  Show them what you believe.  Don't be an 'undercover Christian.'

5.  Eliminate Excuses.  Don't let challenges morph into excuses.  Excuses stem from fear, and fear leads to regret.  To this day, my brother is in prison; my dad was an addict.  I decided one day I would NOT be a stat.  When my high school counselor told me that no one from my school gets scholarships, I decided to use her words as fuel. Not as an excuse.  You are looking at the first college graduate in my family.

Don't be a stat; be a STAR.

Dual Credit at Trinity Prep

How do students earn dual credit at Trinity Prep?  Via TWO pathways: I.    Tests:  AP, CLEP, or SAT II. II.   Online Courses with our academic partners.  All dual credit (DC) classes are an asset to a student’s high school experiences and transcript.  But not all colleges will award college credit for them.   Even colleges that will award credit will not necessarily apply them to the degree plan.  The more selective the college, the less likely they are to recognize for dual credit work for college credit.  But all state universities in TX do accept AP/CLEP test scores for college credit.  The acceptance rate ranges from just a few AP tests at UT in Austin to all AP and CLEP tests accepted at UT-Arlington and other smaller state schools.  In other words, it varies, but our students are very likely to earn credit based on a passing score on an AP or CLEP exam.
