Are we "University Model"? No! We're a College-Style School
Po-TAY-toe, po-TAH-toe; to-MAY-toe, to-MAH-toe . . .
does it really matter whether we describe Trinity Prep as a College-Style SchoolTM ?
Yes, actually, it does!
We trademarked the term "College-Style SchoolTM" to identify OUR particular mission, and to one day be able to assist others in establishing a school like Trinity Prep. We will be able to certify these schools as truly College-Style Schools.
It may seem like mere semantics, but "University Model" is also a trademarked term for another type of part-time school. So, we never use that term to describe Trinity Prep.
But we are happy for all the families in the DFW Metroplex to have SO MANY educational options for their children. In addition to full-time public schools, there are full-time private schools with a wide variety of priorities and programs. Some focus on offering a rigorous academic program; others focus on sports; others serve particular populations of learning challenges.
There is the option to homeschool full-time. Those families can seek out individual classes and co-ops to support their home school.
Then, there is Trinity Prep (and similar schools) which offer this part-time, 'hybrid' model. And this is my favorite model, and not just because I am biased as the School Director 😄
But because it truly offers the best of both worlds - a classroom with a dedicated teacher for that subject or age group, and at-home time that looks just like homeschool. This model makes room for students who need modifications to the schoolwork, which parents can employ at home. This model facilitates accelerated and gifted learners, who can engage in supplemental learning activities in the at-home days. And this model even facilitates the student athlete who spends 10-20+ hrs/wk in practice, because of fewer all-day class days each week.
There are full-time schools that serve each of these populations, and then there is our College-Style SchoolTM which serves all of these populations, in a partnership with their parents.
It is the best of both worlds for many types of students and many types of families!
Thank you for joining me for another Trinity Prep Talk,
